How it Works:
Simply press the Start button, and the app will record your initial GPS position. Over the next 30 seconds, it tracks your movement and displays a live countdown and progress bar so you can see the measurement in progress. At the end of the interval, the app captures your final position and calculates the ground speed using the distance traveled divided by the elapsed time. The result is displayed prominently on the screen, giving you a clear and immediate reading.

Accuracy and Limitations:
GPS accuracy typically ranges from 3 to 10 meters for consumer devices, which is very precise for most aviation applications. Over a 30-second interval, minor GPS errors have minimal impact on the calculated ground speed, generally less than 0.5 knots. Longer intervals, such as 1 minute, further reduce the effect of GPS inaccuracies and provide slightly more precise results. Keep in mind that sudden maneuvers, turbulence, or areas with poor GPS reception may affect readings.
